Various options for product design can be reviewed as CAD increases speed and flexibility in manipulating, analyzing, and modifying these options immediately.
CAD also performs engineering design calculations through which the product design is tested for mechanical and thermal stress which helps to evaluate the strength of materials for various design options. This is called Computer-aided Engineering (CAE).
