Research is an essential tool for making decisions within an organization, as for one to make accurate decisions, and then sufficient research has to be done. The investigation on a given subject must be carried out widely and using different methods and then comparing the outcome to avoid getting biased results.
In the article about employee acceptance to various decisions in an organization that affects them, the main factors influencing them including. The information provided during employees appraisal; demotion, promotion, and rating should be valid and also the employees should be involved. It can be possible by checking the data from which the information correctly and using different methods to assess the data to avoid biases (Kahneman et al, 2011). Employees’ involvement is possible by listening to their voices and considering their views when making decisions in an organization concerning appraisal of workers.
Further, employees acceptance to appraisal decision is influenced their participation. Workers participation in making appraisal decisions promotes their acceptance and trust in business that has resulted in improved performance. The participation helps to avoid inaccuracy when making appraisal decisions as there is sufficient data collected through different methods from the employees rather than making decisions based information that supervisors have as it could be insufficient leading to employees feeling penalized unfairly that would also impact negatively on the business.
Additionally, the appraisal acceptance was influenced by the system that was used to administer the performance of employees. The method used influenced the acceptance of the employees on a decision made that in response affected their performance in the organization.
The article contributes to contemporary thinking about research in the following ways. First, it helps to understand that research is an essential aspect of making any decision in an organization. Notably, it helps know that any investigation must be carried out widely and carefully, and decisions should be made after maximum evaluation of the data collected(Bonaccio et al, 2006).
The article helps us to understand the importance of conducting research before making decisions in an organization in various ways like.
First, the decision of appraising the workers were only accepted if on research they were involved by being asked questions regarding the decisions. Here it shows that due to the workers knowledge that the information was not biased they could, therefore, accept decisions willingly.
Second, in case employees felt that the decision made was unbiased and was unfair to them, and then their relationship with the manager or raters would weaken hence research is essential to ensure no biases that could lead to workers feeling mistreated hence affecting the relationship in an organization.
Third, unfair appraisal resulting from biased research data would change the workers attitude towards the body that would, in turn, lead to employees productivity lowering affecting the company negatively and causing great losses. Thus, research is essential as it leads to the collection of accurate data that is sufficient encouraging employees and ensuring they have the positive attitude towards the organization hence, being more productive.
Fourth, unfair appraisal resulting from invalid data affects the behavior of workers making them work unwillingly that causes loss to the organization. Carrying out comprehensive research would change the behavior as employees would feel the company is treating them fairly.
On the field of relationship between the entrepreneurship and organizational behavior that mainly focuses on the relationship between managers and entrepreneurs, the information in the first article on research in an organization can be applied in the following ways.
In carrying out research to compare and contrast the behavior of entrepreneur versus group, I would establish research strategy that would ensure the information collected is not biased.The plan can be possible by looking for information from existing data, consulting experts who have knowledge about the field and then comparing the data in order to make realistic conclusions(Zikmund et al, 2012).
Moreover, I would avoid biases in making the conclusions. The strategy can be possible by avoiding making conclusions based on personal influences and also by making maximum consultation before making the final decision.
Finally, my opinion on the topic of the article is that carrying out sufficient research is necessary for an organization before making the conclusion, as it would help to avoid getting into a decision that is biased, and unfair workers and organization. For it could lead to the company making losses, being into the wrong relationship with employees that can threaten the total collapse of a company.
