In preparation for your final research project to complete your HD/HND, you are required to prepare a research proposal relating to a specified area of business.

The proposal should:

a. Formulate and record possible research project outline specifications;

b. Identify the factors that contribute to the process of research project selection;

c. Produce a research project proposal; and

d. Provide an appropriate plan and procedures for the agreed research project.

The research proposal should include the following:

a. An identification of the research question or hypothesis with justification for choice;

b. A justification of the chosen methodology in terms of the research question;

c. An action plan with target dates and methods for monitoring and planning; and

d. A code of ethics for the conduct of the study.

Explanation / Answer

a. After doing literature review a number of prospective topics in HR emerges which require attention of researchers. Some of them are -

Growing role of HRIS

Expatriate management

Training and development in banking sectors.

b) After assessing the above topics the last topic "training and development in banking sector" was chosen. The rationality behind choosing this research project is continous changing environment and process of transformation in banking sector. This lead to growing concern of training employees with every new change and transformation to make them work effectively and also addressing the issues that claanges such training.

c) Research Project Proposal :

a) Research Question : What is the existing status of training and development programes banks offfer to their employees? Are these programmes effective to traiin employees being dynamic with changing environment? Are these programmes still work in changed context or are outdated? How such programes effect performance of employees in banks.

b) Research methodology: Descriptive researchd esign is choosen, private and public sector banks of New Delhi are targeted. Employees of these banks are sample unit. Research was done through s survey conducted using questionnaire and unstructured interviews with HR trainer of the banks.

c) At first week an observation would be made in these banks to have a sound questionannire in hand. AVrious factors would be observed such as who are low level employees, what kind of work they do, who supervise them etc. AFter observation questionannire would be strutured in which various questions related to finding answers of research questions would be formulated. In third week these questionnaires will be distributed to the employees and meanwhile interviews will be conducted. After fourth and fith week when responses are achived, the data organization and analysis work will start and lastly based upon the analysis report would be prapared.

d) To make sure that employees only fill the questionnaire, identity of any employee should not be revelaed to anyone except the resercher, biasness should be elimitaed if any while collecting data.
