Explanation / Answer
Answer 1.
Both the current and future problems faced at Eastern Gear are as below
Small Order: The Easter Gear faced a problem of receiving small orders The small quantity order does not help them to generate large revenue. Energy spent is high against revenue generation.
Quality problems: Operation missing issues: The finished good contains customer issues and many times the products are returned with quality issues. Some time the complete operation is missing in all the products.
Lack of tolerances on design of orders: The order received from customers does not contain full details required for manufacturing the gears. The customer engineer use to tell the tolerances and specification for the gear products. This being a manual process impacts the productivity of the Eastern gears.
Bottleneck shift machine to machine: The production line is not well set and its capability is a question mark. The machine behavior is abnormal. Bottleneck shifts from machine to machine and the clarity on machine behavior is suspicious.
Long flow of order acceptance and customer review: The customer order receipt and acceptance is a long process and it calls for long process. This takes lot of time of the organization and most of the time is wasted in the organization.
Production line has old machines – and the performance of the machines is not good and expected more problems in future.
Quality control system is not effective and the products misses the complete operations that doubt the quality standards at the Eastern gears and it will create major problems in future.
