One important aspect of adapting to the changing needs of consumers, is for companies to also cultivate cultural reforms. Forbes has published an article on instilling cultural change through leadership skills. The article notes a great book "Change the Game", by Connors and Smith. They contend that changing or improving the culture of a company or team requires, focus, accountability, and consistency. Three leadership skills needed to implement a new or improved culture are (1) Leading the change, (2) Responding to feedback, and (3) Facilitative communication style.

As a team leader in my MBA academics I exercised the two leadership skills stated above to manage cultural change in my group presentation on business plan. The leadership skills I exercised include leading the change and responding to feedback. The group members were from different cultural backgrounds and have different attitudes. It was a challenge to keep all of them integrated. One of the challenge was to set the time for discussion about the b plan presentation and it's preparation for a week, some of the members were Muslims and objected the time set due to prayer timings. For this, it was needed to bring changes in the schedule for preparation and to make every other members to understand the fact and value each other's cultural background. We changed the schedule and cooperation helped to manage the group effectively. I also welcomed their feedbacks, their thoughts and opinions to lead them by involving everyone for avoiding any conflicting issues. And I always responded positively to the feedback and suggestions provided by the members, and gave them possible clarification and helped them with issues they were facing.
