‘French Ambassadors’ was created by H. Holbein the Younger in U.K in 1533. It is a dual sketch of Jean de Dinteville (on the left) & Gorges de Selve (on the right), who are ( as the name suggests) ambassadors. The former was a French ambassador for U.K, & the latter was a French ambassador for many nations, & a priest. The picture has several characteristics that are present on account of the humanist influences, like the focus on the persons; the exhibition of objects pertaining to humanity’s rising comprehension of the heavens ; the development of human civilization/ culture; the obscured crucifix in the background.
