Question
? Cross sales – This is the sale of products that are not related to other products purchased by the customer but recommended by the system. Often based on purchase habits of other customers who bought non-related products together.
? Up Sales – This is the sale of products that are related to previous (or current) purchases that provide benefits to the products the customer has already purchased. These recommendations are often made based on a customer’s purchase history or items that appear in their shopping cart.
Project Task 2: Requirements For this task, you are to look at the “Minimum requirements” identified above and determine the entities, attributes and primary keys required for your database. You DO NOT need to identify foreign keys or relationships at this point. Your main task is to determine what data should be collected and how it is grouped together.
Explanation / Answer
Answer)
Mainly there are 2 ideas : Cross sales and Up Sales.
We have to determine the entities, attributes and primary keys required for your database.
So, first let us take into consideration the cross sales on buying a product:
Tables would be like:
ProductSales (SaleId, ProductID, ProductName, Description, Quantity, Date);
CrossSales (SaleId, ProductID, CrossSaleProductID);
The CrossSaleProductID is the recommended product for cross sales. The CrossSaleProductID can be one or more products based on a product or on a saleID. SaleID will be the primary key.
Then, there comes the Up Sales, Tables added would be:
UpSales (SaleId, ProductID, UpSaleProductID);
The UpSales table will contain the recommendation of the product that can be bought with the product that the customer has bought based on customer history as UpSaleProductID. SaleID would be the primary key.
