Question

ANY HELP PLEASE

THANK YOU

In the figure, R1 = 9.00 ohm, R2 = 14.0 ohm, R3 = 6.00 ohm, and the ideal battery's emf is E = 24.0 V. Determine the following values below. Enter INFINITY if the answer is infinite. For what value of R4 will the rate at which the battery transfers energy to the resistors equal 60.0 W? : For what value of R4 will the rate at which the battery transfers energy to the resistors equal the maximum possible rate pm : For what value of R4 will the rate at which the battery transfers energy to the resistors equal the minimum possible rate Pmin : What is Pmax? What is Pmin?

Explanation / Answer

Let the total resistance is Req

Req= Rbranch + R1

1/Rbranch=1/(R2)+1/(R3)+1/(R4)

For 60w power the Req=v*v/P=24*24/(60)=9.6 ohm

Rbranch= 0.6 ohm

1/(0.6)=1/(14)+(1/6)+(1/R4)

(1/R4)=1/(14)+(1/6)-1/(0.6=1/14

R4=14 ohm

(D).Pmax,When R4=0

Req= R1=9 ohm

P max=24*24/9=64 w

(E) Pmin when R4=infinty

Only R1.R2,R3 are there

1/Rbranch=1/(R2)+1/(R3)

1/Rbranch=1/(14)+(1/6)

Rbranch=21/5

Req=9+21/5=66/5=13.2 ohm

Pmin=43.6363=43.64

Power flow is minimum when the equivalent resistance is high.When R4=infinte,that branch will become an open circuit.Hence the equivalent ciruit wll have only R1,R2,R3
