When any user uses any query over search engine by typing a keyword or a phrase, it actually searches the index of the same across internet (web). It begins with the checking across all the pages in the database by determining the relevant web page and results are shown in search engine results page. So actually, three important parts work together to get the desired outcomes, such as, web crawler, indexer and query processor. Crawling helps in data fetching and indexing helps in categorizing the information in an accessible form and faster retrieval and the query processor search for more relevant information in the database. Search Engines are of two types, one is crawler based (e.g. Google) which uses software agents to develop their listings and directory based (e.g. Yahoo) which uses human editors to develop their listings. The result matching technique is used to determine the relevant search information either by parsing or filtering followed by result ranking for the result display based on the frequency of the keywords used, location of the keyword in a webpage. Search engines are either single source (e.g. Google, Yahoo, Altavista) or meta search engines (e.g. Mamma, Dogpile). The search engine work on many Boolean operators to find the relevant query (such as AND, OR and NOT) and also wildcards (*) are used for placeholder. When a user wants to find the exact text then quotation marks should be used . Use of (-) and (+) helps in removing or adding the words. Therefore, it is very important for a researcher to be sure about the keywords to be used while executing queries in search engine for the relevant search outcomes.
