1. I firmly believe that Bill and Melinda Gates have demonstrated strong leadership qualities in their philanthropic activities. First of all Bill and Melinda Gates have shown commitment and passion towards the cause that they are pursuing. For example while donating money to support the lives of HIV patients the Gates went to poor regions in different parts of the world and directly interacted with the HIV patients to understand what can be done to improve their lives. Similarly they went to slums to interact with poor children and understand why many poor children are not going to schools. Secondly both Bill and Melinda have demonstrated decision making capabilities and have made right decisions at the right time. They analyses the situations on a ground level and decided the form of support that a particular cause requires.
2. Yes, I do think that Bill and Melinda Gates have influenced other wealthy people and corporations to mirror their behavior. Bill Gates was a very powerful business leader and icon and his decision to pursue philanthropy and donate a significant amount of his wealth has indeed inspired many wealthy individuals, many business leaders and many companies as well. The couple has inspired others to give back to the society in a tangible manner and in a manner that will help improve the lives of others. Now prominent business leaders like Warren Buffet and Mark Zuckerberg and big companies like Bank of America, Walmart etc. are supporting philanthropic initiatives.
