Question

You have been tasked by your supervisor to prepare all office computers for installing and learning new software. In order to complete this task, you must first discover how to identify the operating system of each computer and to navigate within the operating system. Beginning with your own computer, use the steps below to achieve this goal. Then identify your plan for updating all office computers per your supervisor’s request.

Explain, why it is important to understand what your operating system is, and what it can or cannot support.

Suggestions for what to include in your paper:

What is your Operating System (OS)?

Why is it important to know what OS have?

How much memory (RAM) does your current system have?

Why is it important to ensure you have enough RAM?

What is the processor speed on your computer?

Why would you need a faster processor?

Explanation / Answer

My current operating system is Windows 10 64 bit Pro edition.

It is important to know the OS the computer is running because each OS has its different software different version and different key shortcuts to know. Some time there is no cross system compatibility in the software. Like for Swift development can only be done in Mac Os. Windows and Linux dont have the appropriate support for Swift.

My current system has 8GB of DD3 RAM.

It is important to ensure that the system has enough RAM because the RAM is a where everything resides when it is executing. So if you wish to run multiple heavy softwares at once like Photoshop and Lumion you need a lot of RAM, probably 16GB or higher for long lasting. 8 might be sufficient now but later it wont be with the updates. But if the system are for regular office use like Excel, Word then 4 or 8 might be more than enough to last a long time.

The processor speed of my computer is 2.20GHz.

The speed of processor refers to the the number of instructions done by CPU in one second, therefore higher the number of instruction higher the output of the system, so it is important to have a good processor not in terms of just the speed but other things like the version like i7 6th gen 2.2 is better than i3 5th gen 3.0. Speed is not the only thing.

If graphics are involved then you might consider getting a GPU for the system as well.
