Question

....................................      E-COMMERCE      ..........................................

Ok, so I have an e-commerce question and I also have some hints to it.

Describe the risks of launching of a new e-commerce site if implementation is not conducted effectively and offer at least two approaches to mediate those risks.

I would need to explain the risks below

-    Low conversion rate to outcomes, high attrition rate (due to inadequate testing of design)

-     Low repeat visits (due to inadequate testing of design)

-     Data errors

-      Errors and site downtime

-      Security breaches.

Please explain atleast 2 - 3 approaches to mediate those risks.

Explanation / Answer

- Low conversion rate to outcomes, high attrition rate (due to inadequate testing of design)
May be due to prgramming errors, user experience is not good enough to keep it busy on site.. Hence the User interface must be enhanced or redesigned.
One method to mitigate this issue can be to log user activities and depending upon the user activities, analyse the website on times, for if it is performing well
Other method can be to give user a way through which s/he can tell what the probelm is.

- Low repeat visits (due to inadequate testing of design)
This may be due to content of the portal. If the content is not good enough or not unique in a way which caters useful information to the user, he might not visit the site again..
There are times when people just forget about your site.. Email newsletters can be one way to reach the customers.. Also, social networking can also be used to promote the portal. Also, check if your site is containing something which user would like to see everyday.. like social media is something which keeps changing and hence people come on networking site, while in case of a history website, why would user want to visit again.. He will see the same history again and thus, his chances of coming back will be less.. Hence the portal must offer unique and fresh content.

- Data errors
If there is some incorrect information provided in the portal, it might hamper the trust of the user with your portal, resulting in lesser visits.. For this issue, the data need to be properly audited before made public..

- Errors and site downtime
There can be issues where due to heavy load or due to your webserver, the website is unable to function properly. If the user need to visit your site for some urgent work and he notices such issues, Then this probaly is going to result in loss of visitor. To remedy this situation, we can put a dedicated server which takes care of the requests.. Also putting multiple servers in high availability mode can also help.

- Security breaches.
If user submits some sensitive data to your portal, the data must be kept safe at all the times, such as credit card numbers in payment portals.. This can result even in litigation against the website for being fraudulent.. To mitigate this issue, some security agency services can be taken to analyse the flows of website and also, proper testing of the code will make sure that the data is kept private all the times.
