Explanation / Answer
SBI,HDFC,ICICI, AXIS and Yes Banks are banks in India that got affected when millions of their customer debit cards were compromised. This happened due to malware in Hitachi payment services which are a vendor for these companies for some technologies.
1.The ethical dilemma was that the people trust banks without getting into technicality as to how bank functions. Banks are trusted and public has faith on them. Government ensures that any bank does not fail or go liquidated as it would affect economy. Now people do not keep their money in hand or in house. The security of banking system is paramount and the technology dependent system must be protected at all costs.
2) It was through the use of malware and security system that led to the incident so technology indeed can be used for wrong purposes.
3) The organizations responded well by securing debit cards data and removing malware.
4) People certainly cannot live without technology but it should be used for all good purposes and security system must be boost up.
5) The preventive control system would have been to have risk mitigation team at place and and robust cyber security highly trained professionals who could have avereted any such malware attacks.
