Today we have the ability to clone sheep, create life outside the human body, create artificial intelligence, solar power our homes, etc. We have technology that will allow us to deposit a check without ever going to the bank. We have the ability to have face to face conversations from the opposite side of the world. You can now get a college education in the remotest villages in the world. I would like you to think about the implications of possibilities. Contemplate where you think we move moral to immoral or ethical to unethical. Be sure to think about the underlying values that help you draw that line for yourself. In other words, take a deontological approach. Remember that deontology is the branch of philosophy concerned with ethics, especially that branch dealing with duty, moral obligation, and right action. Deontology falls within the domain of moral theories that guide and assess our choices of what we ought to do (deontic theories). Prompt: Discuss the following: Just because you can should we? We are seeing lot of changes in the improvement of technology. Making things easier and handy. Helping out everyone to complete their basic needs In fraction of minutes. This improvement in technology is not only in digitalization however it is seen in all branches of studies where mankind doing his lot to server and improve his daily needs.
Let’s think about this where are we moving into with this improvement in technology are we developing ourselves in improving according to the market competition, are we doing our best contributing to this development.
However are moving I right direction where are using all the natural resources, consuming a lot, contamination environment with improvement of technologies and with growing population, increase in poverty.
Measures are been in place in improving/controlling environmental pollution but this is not enough, as we can see still countries are spending more money on nuclear weapon, military as well which is not a good sign.
With growing technology human values are decreasing, no bonding between humans and everything is executed in finger tips with smart technologies, however we are lacking human interaction, physical activities in doing our daily things.
