Text Function can be used to perform various operations, few of them listed below.

Convert a number to text using Currency format or return the characters specified.

Can join several text items into one text item.

Can compare two text values to be identical.

Convert the text to lower case or upper case.

Date and Time Function

This function helps you with variety of operation that can be performed on Date and time like converting a serial number into hours, calculating the number of days between two dates based on 365 days in a year, can convert the date in text form or serial number form, also within date and time function there are functions which can return the year fraction or return the serial number of the date before or after a specified number of workdays.

Statistical Function

This can be used to calculate average, mean median, mode for the given set of arguments which can also be pictorially represented using graph function.

This can perform all statistics based operation whether it be calculating the correlation coefficient or counting the numbers of arguments, exponential distribution, probability distribution, F test, etc. This function can also perform frequency distribution or used in forecasting the data.

The accounts team of XYZ Car Company used Excel tool to maintain the data and performing various tasks on that data.

They were required to maintain the records of Cars and employees and various car sale/purchase operations.

The time and date function was used to maintain the entries of sale of car, employees working hours, logged in/out time, leaves, etc.

The text function was used for numerous things - comparing the employee name from sales department to the one in warehouse and various task he is performing, appending the tasks under the task columns, etc.

The statistic function was used for various statistical data required like calculating average, mean or calculating the frequency distribution for various cars in different warehouses, keeping a count of employees in various departments and a check on their attendance.

Personally i use Excel for doing my math problems - all sort of math problems can be solved using excel whether it be trigonometry, statistics, algebra and the best thing is i won’t require a calculator either. For gaining extra credits in my assignments to explain my answers i give graphical representation of the given data.
