Question

Looking back on all these things, respond briefly

to the following questions. [Brief responses will be paragraphs of at least 4 or 5 sentences in length and

in any case no longer than a quarter page of single spaced typed text with 1” margins and size 11 font.]

3. [15] Imagine the world 100 years for now. What do you think human-computer interaction will

be like at that time?

i. What might interaction with devices containing embedded computers be like?

ii. What might interaction with computers providing information storage and retrieval be

like?

Explanation / Answer

In todays developed technology computing has grown so much and as well as human-computer interaction has increased. In today most software is interactive and code related to the interface.
Human-computer interaction has even an important role in application design.

Firstly begin with cellphones. It has a small screen with tiny buttons and no mouse. From starting to ending designed for speech. The speaker and microphone are highly eveloved and very small and the placement for mic is in its mormal position for speech recognition.May be will get speech interfaces. If its smartphone mayb be has speech interfaces and a Bluetooth radio.May be having some kind of position information using assisted satellite GPS.

Lets talk about embedded system. It is a combination of computer hardware and software and having additional parts either be mechanical or electronic. For example we can take microwave oven.very few people knows that computer processor and software are involved in the preparation of their lunch or dinner.

The microprocessor was an overnight success, and its use increased steadily over the next decade. Early embedded applications included unmanned space probes, computerized traffic lights, and aircraft flight control systems. In the 1980s and 1990s, embedded systems quietly rode the waves of the microcomputer age and brought microprocessors into every part of our personal and professional lives.

Its use drastically increasing for next decade roughly for 100 years. The microprocessor was an overnight success and the rate of succuess was steadily increasing. We take Early embedded applications like computerized traffic lights and and aircraft flight control systems etc.

We know that over 6 billion new microprocessors are used each year.Per average Less than 2 percent of these microprocessors are used in general-purpose computers. Now a days most of the devices we are using in kitchen like food processors, and microwave ovens ,fax machines, televisions etc.

It seems believable that number of embedded systems will continue to increase rapidly year by year.In future will have light switches and thermostats that are networked together and wilol be controlled by a central computer.Intelligent air-bag systems that don’t inflate when any one present like children or small adults are present, and may be we can have medical monitoring devices that can notify a doctor if a patient’s physiological conditions are at critical levels and can have dashboard navigation systems will inform the user best route to your destination under current traffic conditions.
