i. Assume office space is already rented out and comes with standard furniture.

Explanation / Answer
Answer)
For a good design of a forensic lab, the security meaures are must which means that the labs should be secured and no unauthorised access to unknown people should be provided as it may lead to leakage of some really important information. The physical security measures like solid doors, safes(for storing important proofs), locks should be there. As the area is already furnished with some good locks and security alarms it does the work of security but to be a little more secure, having cameras becomes important as with the installation of the cameras in every corner of the lab, the security is increased. Even the chances of lab technicians who sometimes take money and change the reports are also reduced. An eye is kept on the list of people coming in and out of the lab with the help of these cameras. Even if some mishappening happens in the lab, than the cameras can be very useful in finding out various clues and helps a lot in the investigation process.
After the security, comes the equipments to be used in the lab. Since it is a small business lab, than a very few number of computer systems are required with proper required softwares installed on them. The lab should also have a portable system which can be used to go and do some test on the site. The systems must have proper internet connection facilities. There must be an internet connection which is not connected to those computers. The internet connection can be used for finding and sharing forensics information and techniques and for communicating with other forensic experts. There should be proper supplies of portable storage devices like CD'S , DVD'S, Pen Drives which are used to go and collect data from some one's else system and can be used for transferring important files. Proper ID cards are to be made which can be used at the time of entry and exit of the idividuals in the labs. The issuing of the ID cards provides verification that only trusted people are entering the lab. There should be some cases which protect the sensitive materials from the radiations and outer surroundings. The availability of various chemicals depending on the type of tests to be performed is very importnant. The various requirements for performing various chemical tests like test tubes, tongs, wire gauge, tripod stands, burners etc should be fulfilled as the test wont be able to take place without the availabilty of these resources.
