Explanation / Answer
1. Approach
Considering SaaS, Run your own application of ITS, where the service will be limited only to Internal authorized employees.
Use a separate application for Customers to book/order and register for installation and maintenance services.
The purpose will be to provide more security to the current network in the organization
Things to consider will be
Infrastructure
Software
People
Procedures
Data
2. Assumptions
1. Maintain atleast one other site at a separate location to revoke Business Continuity in case of Disater.
2.Hire an extra person online to maintain the company's website and manage various online tasks such as installation/maintenance request, etc.
3. The software person will maintain a database(also can be stored on cloud providing reqired security) to keep track of employees, inventory in Warehouse, all other ITS activities.
3. Security Approach
1.Physical Security:
-> Install Cameras
-> Place fire alarms
-> Only authorized access to warehouse and headquarters
2. All customer and employee related data should be encrypted
3. use Firewalls in the network, as and whre required.
4. If required, build a Demilitarized Zone(DMZ)
5. Periodic Risk Assessment and Management
6. Backup of all the data in case of Disaster
7. Use of secured/safe and authentic payment gateway
8. Regular training should be provided to the employees within the company, as humans are the weakest link when it comees to security.
9. Have an internal Emegency Response Team(ERT)
4. Non Cloud Application or web application can be used for online Payment where we should not store process or transmit cardholder data as per the best practicees.
6. Business Continuity/ Disaster recovery Approach
1. Managing DR by a Managed Service provider.
2. Backup to and restore from cloud.- here data is backed up on the cloud.
3. Backup to and restore to the cloud - here data is restored to virtual machines.
4. replication to virtual machines in the cloud - this can be used to protect both cloud and on site data.
