Explanation / Answer

Lisa Jameson has two job offers. One is from Pembroke Boats, a boat manufacturer that employs 200 people in a small Ohio town.
Pembroke does not have an IT department and wants her to create one. The job position is called information coordinator, but
she would be the only IT person. The other offer, which pays about $7,500 more annually, is from Albemarle Express, a nationwide
trucking firm located in Detroit. At Albemarle Express, Lisa would be a programmer-analyst, with the promise that if she does
well in her position, she eventually will move into a systems analyst position and work on new systems development. Lisa has
heard a rumor that another company might acquire Albemarle Express, but that rumor has occurred before and nothing has ever happened.
What should Lisa do, and why?

SOLUTION:

In Order to decide what Lisa should do, she must identify both pros and cons of both the jobs.
If she takes the first offer she has work in a small firm and will be living in small town. She will be on her own and will be the part of startup.
She will get to learn a lot and will gain a good experience if she works in Pembroke Boats andthe chance of her growth will be very high.
But the only drawback is that her salary will be less and since it is a startup company and she will be the only member, there will be a lot of pressure on her.
Moreover, the success story of the startup companies are very rare. If this company doesnt perform well then this can have a reverse imapct on her future career.

On contrary,If she takes the second offer that is Albemarle Express she will be working in a large corporation and will be living in
a big city. She will be the member of a large IT department and will have to under her boss. Hence she cannot be her own boss as in Pembroke Boats.
Since Albemarle Express is an established systems so her job will be more secure. She will work as programmer-analyst, with the promise that if she does
well in her position, she eventually will move into a systems analyst position and work on new systems development which a very good point for her.
Her job security will be more and moreover she will paid more comapred to Pembroke Boats. As it is a renowned company,so if she changes company in future,
then the name of Albemarle Express and job role as systems analyst in her resume will have great impact on her future.

In the end, Lisa must decide what is important to her as an individual whether she has capability to work in startup and progress or work in a reputed company
with high pay and job security.
