Question
5. Company A has been allocated the Class B address block 170.16.0.0/16. In their internal network, they want to break this address block into 64 subnets of equal size. a) (3 points) What Subnet Mask should they configure on all company devices to achieve this? Note that all 64 internal subnets will use the same mask. b) (3 points) How many assignable IP addresses are in each of the 64 subnets? c) (4 points) For the subnet containing IP 170.16.22.94, list its Subnet ID (network addr ress and prefix length), and its broadcast address.Explanation / Answer
since address block is 170.16.0.0/16 means last 2byte or 16 bits are available to indentify each IP or host.
to create 64 subnet we we Log264 =>6 =>6 bit needs to create subnet from 16 bits, so we will take rightmost 6 bits from 16 bits, so remaining 16-6 => 10 bits to in each subnet, so 210 =1024 ips are possible for each subnet, but from 1024 IP address only 1024-2=1022 are assignable because 2 IPs are for innecast and broadcast.
so, a)subnet will be : 170.16.11111100.00000000 => 170.16.252.0
b)1022 assignable ip,
c) 170.16.00010110.XXXXXXXX & 170.16.11111100.00000000 =>176.16.00010100.00000000=>170.16.20.0 is Subnet id and broadcast id is : 172.16.00010111.11111111 => 170.16.23.255
please give thumbs up, thanks
