Search fonums Discussion Posting: E- Learning Online courses are great - or are they? This week, I would like you to research the pros and cons of the online earning environment versus the face-to-face learning environment. or more. Courses (Moocs) One can obtain a free university education anywhere in the world with class sizes of 10,000 Harvard, MIT, and The University of California at Berkley (3 very prestigious universities) h Toronto has joined forces with some American Universities to do the same What do you really think about online learning? Would you consider enrolling in a MooC? Why or why not? (Note that you can be honest here. You ave teamed up to offer MOOCS. The University of won't offend me in the least if you dislike online learning). Please also describe your online learning environment to us. Does it consist of a computer on your lap while you watch television? Do you comfortable, private office space? Online Courses are great, I fully support Online Courses which are available in our day to day life.
E-Learning
Face-To-Face Learning
Pros
1, There is Flexibility of time, location, number of people with E-Learning.
2, Cost will be lower for E-Learning. E-Learning allows you to learn from anywhere.
3, E-Learning allows you to take full advantage of your time and get things done when you wouldn’t normally be able to.
4, E-Learning will increase the Computer proficiency/knowledge for users.
1, There will be direct interaction with the teaching staff, so that communication gap will be good.
Cons
1, Sometimes learners with low motivation can quickly fall behind in an online course.
1, There is no flexibility with Face-To-Face Learning.
2, Cost will be little bit higher than E-Learning, which includes transportation also.
As you said, just now I went into MOOCS site (http://mooc.org/) and I think it is awesome. Yes, I really consider myself to enroll in MOOC.
As I like E-Learning rather than Face-To-Face Learning, I am interested to enroll in MOOC. Important thing is that, MOOC is providing free E-Learning (as I read in MOOC site) and there are no limitations for age, location, gender, technology.
Right now, I am learning SAP technology through E-Learning and of course it is very comfortable for me as there will be good environment during classes (as you mentioned as a question).
