Question
Effectiveness is the degree or capability of achieving something which is desirable. The word effective implies that positive outcome or result can be expected. The objective of the term is to get the desired output irrespective of the resources required to achieve the feat.
Efficiency on the other hand can be defined as a ratio or a comparison of actual production and ideal production and if the ratio is high then it implies that the productivity is ideal. It is the workaround with the best possible way.
In order to explain the difference between the two it can be stated that being effective means that we are doing the rights things while being efficient means that we are doing things right. Let us consider a software developer who has written a piece of code in order to develop a product his code is working fine but it takes quite a bit of time to execute and the lines of code are also exceptionally high, in this context the programmer is effective because his objective is served and his code is fine providing the desired output. Another programmer writes code for the same product and it is observed that the line of code are less now and he has optimized his code, therefore the code takes very less time to execute, in this context the programmer is efficient because he is getting the desired output and also doing things right.
