Two questions that might help the helpless in value clarification is based on a process called as rank order prioritizing.
Prioritizing is an influential way to clarify values that help the helpless to see what they prize and cherish more in their lives. The rank order method puts forward typically three to four choices amongst which the client has to put the options in the order of preference.
For example: In the process of Recovery
Who will help you the most in staying sober for a longer period of time?
If a client resists the rank order then one can ask," What other choices do you feel will better suit the situation?". Or " What thoughts and feelings went through your mind ( physically or mentally) when I presented you the options?" or What would a good response be when your buddy offers you a drink?
