Question

Bootcamp is an internal training program for Facebook employees. The Facebook employees get the entirety of the Facebook’s code base. Bootcamp provides a six-week introduction to all Facebook employees (not only engineers). Bootcamp was introduced to enhance the culture of the engineering team to meet the growing size of the company. Bootcamp is an extension of HR wherein the employees select the type of work which they are passionate about. Hence this is a strength based approach. In the training, a mentor is assigned to each employee. The new employees are asked to perform a variety of tasks such as fixing bugs. The mentor oversees the solution before they go live. This is to ensure that these fixes do not affect the Facebook users. This method of internal training is an effort to "move fast and break things". Facebook wants employees to get adapted to the work environment as soon as possible to meet the fast paced environment. However this approach is not error-free because the new employees tend to make mistakes in their tasks. These errors are fixed before they go live in Facebook. In order to reduce the slowness in the performance, Facebook is now embracing the new motto ‘Move Fast with Stable Infra’. Thus the internal training prepares employees to get adapted to the actual work environment at the earliest possible time rather than undergoing the traditional methods of training.

Explanation / Answer
