Question

Email viruses are typically launched by people who modify header information to hide their identity. Brightmail’s Enrique Salem says that in the future, your email reader will authenticate the sender before putting the message in your inbox. That way, you will know the source of all the emails you read. Alan Nugent of Novell says, “I’m kind of a fan of eliminating anonymity if that is the price for security”. Will eliminating anonymity make computers more secure?

Debate the opinion of Mr. Salem.

Debate the opinion of Mr. Alan.

Give pros and cons both for anonymity and for security.

Relate anonymity and security with the help of a practical example from real life.

Finally, write your answer with a ‘yes’ or a ‘no’ to the following statement “Will eliminating anonymity make computers more secure?” along with a justification/reason in one or two lines.

the answer is :

I Think Mr. Salem focus only in one side of the problems, that stop the unknown email for resaving until approved, that good form security side but this situation can make more headache, by this way you have to monitor your email and keep approving all email.

Mr. Alain says it is good to “I'm a fan of getting rid of anonymity if that's the price of security” and I think he is wrong because this is will not give 100% security while its giving more work on email.

This decision has advantages and disadvantages as the following

Advantages

•             Giving more control on your email.

•             More security from unknown emails.

•             More protection.

Disadvantages

•             More complexed exchanges of email.

•             Lose of flexibility on email reserving.

•             More work for monitoring email and approval.

•             Important email by mistake may be lost.

Anonymity and security

Many of spam email nowadays, some of them are not categorizing as spam email, without known form wear this email come. These kind of unwanted emails. so reviser have to ignore this kind of email.

Please uose you own words No copy from any source , no handwriting please.

Explanation / Answer

I don't agree that eliminating anonymity will make computers more secure. But I don't think the above discussion should be area of focus in the given scenario. First of all, having information about the source of each and every packet on the internet is almost next to impossible. There is no such thing as universal identification. Even if we are able to have an ideal internet, people would still be able to set up multiple servers to have anonymity. In real world, people use fake passports. Having universal identification on internet would be the same. There will always be one or the other way to introduce anonymity into the system. It would cost millions and and even billions to have an ideal internet with a very little or no effect on security.
