The employee also states that he wants help from the company’s EAP to overcome it. Would the fact that the employee was seeking to enroll in your company’s EAP affect your assessment of his readiness for promotion? Explain the reason for your answer. (Remember… what other employment legislation could play in a role in a situation like this?)
Explanation / Answer
In position of Unit manager of organisation, if any Talented Young Employee would to come to me to seek the Counselling Services of EAP i.e Employee Assistance Programe of an organisation which is designed to help , understand and diagnose the Employee from Substance Abuse.
Substance abuse is Basically Drug Abuse which is consume substance in amount which is harmful for health. In most of the cases it is considered criminal or anti-social Behavior occurs when the person is under the influence of a drug.
As a Unit manger of Hotel It is part of my job to checked the employees behaviour which may negatively affect the management and customer’s perception. Those who are addicted to it, a long term personality changes in individuals may occur as well. In addition to possible physical, social, and psychological harm, use of some drugs may also lead to criminal penalties which can ruin the image of organisation.
But since it was noticed that an employee performance is monitored regularly and found that he is ready to Assume responsibility of its own unit very well. Since the EAP do offer a safe environment where an employee can discuss problems with a counselor who then makes a confidential assessment, and if necessary, gives a referral to a psychologist." Indeed, Management regard them as a potentially imortant tool in reversing declining performance among valued workers.
These kind of people/ Employee, management really need to worry about for which reason their performance is mysteriously going down.
Because the successful EAP should show a positive influence on expenditures under the employer's health plan. It should also show lessening absenteeism, tardiness, and disability and improving productivity of the organisation.
