Current business article- Entry of a multinational organization in India Market
Bharat Benz, a Daimler group planned to enter in the India market in commercial segment especially in Tipper segment. Daimler did adequate planning and named this business as Bharat Benz, so that India people get the feeling of Bharat as their own nation, and many people will feels like this may be an Indian Manufacturer. So Barat Benz project started in India with selling the Tippers in India. They could did great marketing and they found normal set of customers whi are willing to buy Bharat Benz product. Initially they face problem in dealer management and profitability of dealers, but slowly then overcome from this problem and now they are on the way for business growth in India.
We can understand following aspects from this article as below -
1) Directing and managing project execution as part of project integration management: - The Daimler had a very good project plan with adequate investigation of the Indian market. They had a resource team managing this project and a team of directing and managing the execution of the project. They were closely monitoring the project for its on-time completion with achieving the desired objectives.
2) Importance of producing promised deliverables – The project team is keen to achieve the desired objective with respect to the time plan. They started with finding a good set of distributor or dealer who can make the good reputation in the region, hence they tied-up with good set of distributors with region-wise for smooth launch and execution of Bharat Benz project.
3) Implementing solutions to problems – Implementing a solution upon any problem arise , is a great approach for project implementation. The Bharat Benz project was facing a key problem of dealer profitability and warranty settlements. These two problems were resolved by Bharat Benz in a very short span of time and helped the dealer financially for starting the business. Bharat Benz project team was able to resolve the problem and led the project on track with respect to its progress plan.
4) Evaluating work performance information – Work performance evaluation is a common task which needs to be done for any kind of business. So as the Daimler group in a multinational group, they already had a very good performance management process and system, so they with the help of that process and system, they did a great work in work performance evaluation. They were focused on dealer performance and field feedback, and accordingly they were acting for improvements.
5) Requesting changes to a project – The changes in a project plan is based on the needs of addition of key actions, which are required for the project. Hence Bharat Benz team did lot of changes in their project plan and actions in terms of dealer management, customer management and warranty settlements, spare availability, understand the mentality of Indian customers, improving the driver habits etc. All this change actions result better outcome and helped them to achieve their business targets.
