B t erfarmance Criseria An undsratandinz of arofesanaland thical 2 fa) You are a quality control engineer, supervising the completion of a product whose specification includes using only U.S, made parts. However that one of your sub-contractors has it , at a very late stage you notice supplied you with a part having foreign made bolts in --but these aren't very noticeable, and would function identically to U.S. made bolts.Your customer urgently needs delivery of the finished produet-what should you do? Briefly explain why or why not you will choose each of the following four: Say nothing and deliver the product with the foreign bolts included, hoping this fact won't be noticed by the customer. Find (or, if necessary, invent) some roughly equivalent violation of the contract or specifications for which the customer (rather than your company) is responsible then tell them you will ignore their violation if they ignore your company's violation. Tell the customer about the problem, and let them decide what they wish you to do next. Put all your efforts into finding legal loopholes in the original specifications, or in the way they were negotiated, to avoid your company's appearing to have violated the specifications. a) b) e) d)Explanation / Answer
it is a hypothetical and difficult question to answer. if i were the manager i will go with option C.
the reason is that, i noticed that our supplier cheated us, even though it is a minor problem, it has to be settled here itself. if i send the same to my client and if they noticed it, i and my company will be in trouble which is more complicated than the existed one. i inform the same to my client and seek their word on this. if they send the material, i proceed it. if they wish to stop total material, i will stop it and proceed according to the contract norms.
i do not leave my supplier in this regards, i inform the same to my management and seek their advisor. i suggest them to call the supplier and ask explanation for this. if it repeats the actions will be much complicated.
my intention is, the problem must be solved at ground level, and at the earliest stage only. if it cross our hands and becomes more complicated, every one is in trouble, which no one wish to do this. so, i inform the same to my client, i think they will convince with the explanation, and ask wont repeat it again.
