Hello, I am working on a software requirements specification document for a project. What I need help with is selecting a project. The project should conform to the following guidelines: Nontrivial: The selected project should be large to allow reasonable exercise of requirements-engineering processes. Domain Knowledge: You should be familiar with the organization or software category to allow focus on the requirements-engineering tasks without significant time required for domain education. Accessibility: You should have good access to the people and other information related to the organization or software because this will be an important part of the requirements-engineering process.

so for software engineering project there are some standered but not small project and also interesting project

like railway ticket booking system,student grading system :- In this you need to take care of every small details and also you can add some new features which you may think are helpful. In this type of project you can learn about database,gui and also some optimaization algrothims.

and if you want to do some really interesting project like working with google maps api (you can develop a travelling web site but it need vert large amount of data)

you can also work on developing a mobile application like on android or iphone .
