You work for a growing healthcare organization where the IT department is a mess and really has no history of any senior IT leadership, much of which has been provided ad hoc by outsourced IT help. The CEO has just stopped by your office and expressed the mess that the IT department is in but offered no additional details. Further, she wants you to investigate and report on a process improvement methodology that the organization should adopt for IT. What methodology do you recommend and why? Plan do check act methodology can be recommended to analyze and mange the IT department. This methodology first identifies the changes to be made and then tests the change and studies the results. And applies the changes if they are successful and if not the cycle is repeated. This methodology helps in identifying and analyzing the required changes and also can be applied till a better solution is found
The reasons behind the IT mess are to be identified. If the outsourcing is one of the major causes then the outsourcing must be limited to some extent to reduce the mess.
A hierarchy must be followed in the organization so that there will be a control in the structure. And also a leadership will be seen and maintained.
