Explanation / Answer

1. Minimalism is defined by the act of self control and refrain from buying the things which we can do without, and which are forced upon us by people who want to make more and more money by making us buy more stuff through spread of consumerism.

2. Consumersim is a culture where the market forces compel the customers to buy more and more stuff, irrespective of their needs and requirements. This helps the manufacturers of consumer items to earn more money.

3. The philosophy of " Buy less" is appropriate in a scenario where we buy loads of clothing then needed, change cellphone twice a year to be in vogue, shift to the latest car which would make the existing one out of fashion and so on. I agree with it. Buying less will actually save money for me, besides preventing heaping up an inventory of stuff that will be seldom used.

4. The important things mean the items which are absolutely necessary for day to day life and are indispensable. In my view, few pairs of clothes, two pairs of sneakers, a cellphone, a car / motorbike, a laptop and some toiletaries, a rucksack and a protective gear will do for me.

5. More consumption means more production. This in turn means more consumption of resources and increase in carbon footprints. Everyone in society has this responsibility to reduce the consumption of natural resources that are not forever.

6. Social responsibility for an individual is to contribute his share of saving the environment and consumption of lesser resources and leave a greener and less deficient world for the generations to come. He / she should also do jsutice to the limited availability of resources by reducing his / her needs and changing to the lifestyle of lesser requirements.

7. One must not fall to the fascination and glitz of the offerings by scheming businessmen conspiring to sell more and more of stuff that is far more than the requirement. The lifestyle advocated by them is just a mirage. One must not let them control his / her lives.
