If you are a university administrator and want to create a data warehouse to keep track of headcounts for graduated students with various degrees in last 30 years (from 1986-1916, students usually graduate in Fall, Spring or Winter for each year). You wanted to know which college/school they graduate, There are several types of degree offered to students: BS, BA,MS,MA, PhD, EdD, MD.

(a) Create star schema for above narrative. (This schema is also basically an ER model with Foreign Key specified, it is the design of data warehouse.

(b)  In above schema, point out the dimensional tables and fact table. Which table(s) you think is/are better normalized/Not normalized, and why

Explanation / Answer

I have been to both commencements. The fall commencement is definitely smaller. I definitely think I saw people who had graduated in the fall at my graduation (spring graduation). I have no clue what the rules on this are, but it's not like they check that you're graduating that semester when you walk into BKS on graduation day, so if you're in a Carolina Blue cap and gown, you'll be good to go
