Imagine you are working at an ice cream shop. It is the middle of summer, the shop’s busiest season, and the electricity goes out during a storm. Rank the actions that you should take in order of importance, as your performance will be measured regarding your immediate actions.

Assess the advantages and / or disadvantages of having more than one source of performance measurement within a company. Support your position with examples. Of the performance measurement sources you provided, select one that you believe your current or previous company could benefit from and explain why.

Explanation / Answer

I will take order as fast as possible and deliver it so that the current stock can be empty.

Having more than one source reduces the probability of biasness. The unbiased decisions are beneficial for emplo0yees as well as company.

Whereas the disadvantage is that having more than one source makes the process very confusing. The process becomes more complex and time consuming.

Most often it is very difficult to compile all the reports from the different people. It creates difficulty in talking decisions.

Let us have an example- Suppose information about the performance about a person is received from the different people like managers, sub-ordinates, peers then there will be different opinions about the performance. They will answer as per the relation with that employee.

If only manager is to rate he/she will give impartial rating on the basis of the performance of the employee based on his strengths and weakness of the employee. While the sub ordinates or peers will rate him as per their relations.

That is why I am saying that only one source would be there, not many source. And that should be manager or his immediate boss. He/ she will be experienced and will have ability to rate the employee in impartial way
