Learning Activity 2- Theme 2 When we started the class we learned that the 21st century manager must be agile to survive the fluid and dynamic business environment of this century. However, we established that the foundation of management theory in most organizations today is the traditional Fayol functions. Reflect on the classwork and then address your comments to the articles from this week on agile managers to debate this question: “Agile management is not the answer to creating a facile and competitive business organization.”

Q1. (Classwork)

Today’s organizations are following the path of Fayol functions where the first strategies of business come from proper planning in business by considering all factors of making profits and further comes are organizing, coordinating and controlling. These are mostly followed in organizations by the managers to fulfill the business needs and increase the profitability. 21st centuries managers are agile they move with any situations and survive by maintaining all the objectives of Fayol functions. They can stable any dynamic environment of business with its simple and easy strategies, and meet all the needs of business quickly. It is the prime motto of any organizations manger to sustain the business effectively.       

Q2. (Debate on comments)

The debate is very true because it is not desirable always to focus on agile management by oversimplified the true complexities in any issues of business. Agile management means easily and comfortably survives in any situation but if the complexities are ignored by only focusing on agile management then it can become a threat to the organizations. The organizations follow up is absolutely important and it has to be done with all proper care and focus.

As in the market, there are lots of competition, other organizations are focusing mostly to meet their goals and looking for profits so it is quite important to take serious measures to look after on the company’s daily process like improved quality of products, good client management, efficient workforce and external resources. Agile management gives the overconfidence or eases the process of running the business, the impact is not good as it overlooks the areas which somehow needs or requires improvement in organization process and that gets neglected. At last the outcome brings a threat which organization has to suffer a lot. It may lead to a financial loss to the organization and reputations among customers are also hampered. So it is necessary that agile management skills/techniques as Fayol functions are always not to be included to create a facile and completive environment for business.
