Famous Performers:

*Do not restrict yourself to any particular period or style. For example, if your favorite instrument is guitar, you may choose Eric Clapton and John Williams.

Famous composers:

*Again, do not restrict yourself to any particular period or style. An example of a relevant web site is the Leonard Bernstein site at the Library of Congress. Did Bernstein write any pieces for your favorite instrument?

Repertoire:

History:

The guitar is an ancient and noble instrument, whose history can be traced back over 4000 years. Many theories have been advanced about the instrument's ancestry. Research done by Dr. Michael Kasha in the 1960's showed these claims to be without merit. The sole evidence for the kithara theory is the similarity between the greek word 'kithara' and the spanish word 'quitaraa'. The earliest stringed instruments known to archeologists are bowl harps and tanburs. Dr. Kasha defines a guitar as having 'a long, fretted neck, flat wooden soundboard, ribs, and a flat back, most often with incurved sides'.

Jimi Hendrix is one of the famous guitar player of all the time and he born on 1942 and died on 1970. Few famous pieces for the guitar are:
