Question

How to search a column in excel and find/highlight which cells are the same?

Hi,

Think this might not be possible, as it's quite a complex question and i'll try and explain as simple as possible.

Basically i sell lots of products online through eBay as on platform.

Unfortunately, some adverts have the same title, but the descriptions are different. Ebay are removing "duplicate" titled adverts.

I can do a download of all my 45,000 adverts to an excel sheet. But the thought of manually going through them 1 by 1 trying to identify which title is the same is just mind boggling.

I'm basically wondering if theres a function to search an entire column and highlight any cells within that column if it appears more than once.

I'll attach a quick image as a visual for you to see.

In row 2 & 3 you see that the title in column C is the same. (Actually one is for manual models, the other for auto models)

I need to find those appearing ass the ssame title, highlightt them, so i can theen check what needs to be altered in the title column C.

Explanation / Answer

You can do that with conditional formatting. highlight the column. Go to Format-Conditional formatting,

set the style to classic, and then chose Format only unique or duplicate values.
