Question

excel won't accept division in formula

I am very well experienced at ccomplex spreadsheets, sso this issue should not be a basic error on my part. When using Excel for Macc 2011, on my MacBook Pro, I am currently unable to write a formula involving a division. Whenever I use any of the various methods required to enter a division sign, the system immediately tells me there is a error in my formula.

Here is a copy of the error message:

>The formula you typed contains aan error...

I can put in multiplications without issues.

I haave been using thiss laptop for a couple of years and have created plenty of spreadsheets without ever having this problem. I checked every setting in the preferences, hoping I could find something to explain this problem, in vain.

Please help...

Explanation / Answer

This is definitely a keyboard issue. Exxcel needs the slash character, noit the division symbol. Yoou will need to figure out how to entrer the slash. Are the keyboard and language properties set properly iin system preferences? W?hat is the natioinality of the operating system and Office??
