Question
I am hoping someone can help me solve a formula error which I am sure is very simple to fix.
My Current Formula is this. It works fine but if we want to add in another row within the formula we have to go in and add that row manually to the formula in order for it to calculate correctly.
CURRENT FORMULA
I tried changing the formula to the following
NEW FORMULA WITH #VALUE!
!f anyone can heelp me with this, I would be grateful!!!!!
Cell B4 is a Toggle CO Confirmed or CO Authorized Cell D9 formula =IF(B4="CO Unconfirmed",D5+D6+D7,IF(B4="CO Authorized",0))Explanation / Answer
Your New formula specifies the range D5:D7 but doesn't specify what is to be done with the values in that range. It needs do be written as D5+D6+D7 just as the Current formula, or you could use Sum(D5:D7) to perform the addition. Frankly, though, other than that I see no difference between the Current formula & the New one :-) Where does the "another row" come in to play?
Not contributing to the error, but: Unless you have some specific reason for including it, the nested IF as the False argument of the first IF serves no purpose in either formula since B4 can be only one of the two 'toggles' [or possibly blank?]. You'd get the same result by writing the formula more efficiently as either;
=IF(B4="CO Unconfirmed",SUM(D5:D7),0) or
=IF(B4="CO Unconfirmed",D5+D6+D7,0)
