Question

Hi there, I have just come across something new with my excel today. I have spent the last few weeks writing macros for a few of my ccompany's spreadsheets and today my work has been halted. When I click the Editor control from my Developer ribbon, the title bar for excel flickers and my mouse cursor changes to the loading icon. This continues in this 'loading' state and I can't work out what is causing this problem. I have to Force Quit excel to regain functionality sof my macbook. What I have tried: Reinstalling Office 2011 for Mac entirely (incl. Application Support files) Changing the compatibility of my workbooks (xlsx, xls etc) Trying to run Editor in a fresh workbook I think this is possibly an isolated problem with my Excel and my macbook as I successfully opened editor with my spreadsheet on a colleagues macbook. Any help is much appreciated!!!

Kind Regards :-)

Explanation / Answer

Yes, it is most certainly your configuration. If you reinstalled Office (which is something you never need to do and usually causes more trouble than it fixes), and did not follow these instructions:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2398768

you will need to do it again following them. Then reinstall from the original CD and apply all updates.

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2435801

Then Repair disk permissions, and "weed your fonts" according to this:

Then, finally restart your Mac and try again. Post back if you have any more trouble
