b- what will be your interview process? what questions will you ask to confirm the skills above?

Explanation / Answer

1. From the perspective of patients and hospital management, this is an attractive use of flexible staffing because the availability of nurses shall be ensured through this move. From the perspective of nurses, it is not an attractive move because they have to stretch extra hours for work and their work-life balance might get affected.

2. Situational (behavioral based) question is valuable for an interview because it generates the exact response from the person, i.e. how is the person going to respond when he/she is put in that situation. Eg. how did you pacify the patients waiting in the queue to get medicines from the pharmacy? Did the patients get pacified by your efforts?

3. Knowing about employment laws as a healthcare manager is valuable to you if you don't wish to ultimately be an HR manager because as a healthcare manager, it is your responsibility to work with HR team to recruit and train the employees who will be working under you. This requires knowledge of employment laws.

4. Three key reasons for nursing turnover:

a. When proper facilities are not provided

b. If the manager does not motivate enough

c. Incentives are not provided to the nurses based on their performance

If I were to make one significant change in the organization to impact this, I would provide them performance based incentives which would motivate them to work and always set high standards for themselves to perform.
