3. Explain briefly what you understand by the term ‘business process’.   

4. Identify key processes in your department/organization and evaluate the interrelationship between the different processes and functions of the organization

5. Justify the methodology used to map the processes to achieve the department/organization’s goals and objectives.

6. Evaluate the output of these processes (identified in Question 4 above) and discuss the quality gateways.

Thanks for the question.

I came across one of the companies that is making innovative solutions in the robotics division. The company is "The Hi-Tech Robotic Systemz Ltd." from India.

They started with the idea of making all different kind of driverless vehicles and enabling smart lives with the robots. Initially, their robots were for the defense purpose like the mobile robotic platforms with manipulator arms, automated bomb diffusal platforms, surveillance robots, motion platforms etc.

But later using the same technology, they entered into the world of industrial robots where they are currently making the robots to transfer the material from one location to another. Also, they have the solutions which replace the conventional conveyors and the complete assembly of the vehicles is happening on the robot itself.

Mission Statement:

For the company (The Hi-Tech Robotic Systemz Ltd.) mission statement:

"Make the world a better place with Autonomous THRSL Robots."

This statement totally focuses upon making the consumer's life better with the help of the robots that is being made by the company. They are of the opinion that if they are able to deliver the value to the customers, then their balance sheets will take care of themselves.

Marketing Strategy:

The most important aspect of their marketing techniques is that rather than focusing upon the products that they were selling, they sell the technology and the value add that they do with their products to your existing processes. Also, they present themselves as the consultants and the thought leaders rather than the sales person of the company. They generally talk about these characteristics:

We learn that we should focus upon how we make the world better rather than bragging about why our product is good. Sure, that will also come at a later part. Also, we shouls use all possible marketing channels.

Organizational Structure:

The Organizational structure of their organization is very flat. They don't have any major hierarchy and most of the top level employees report directly to the Managing Director.

Yes, the culture is very open and challenging work environment. They are more casual in their approach and people are there from all domains and cultural values. The culture promotes diversity.

Work is the most important trait. If you are doing your work perfectly, it will be a good practice and the organization will always value your commitment. Yes, you should always avoid foul practices, unethical work means etc.

Innovation & project management:

The most innovative solution for them is the Novus Drive - Driverless shuttle. They claim that they have already developed a kit which can be mounted to any vehicle and it can run autonomous. You must have heard about the Google Car; it is much similar to that except it is a kit and can make any car or vehicle unmanned. They have already started selling this car/shuttle to Indian Army to save the human lives and also to close campuses for the driverless experience.

They recently faced with a project management situation. They generally fix a budget for the project. But with the specifications and the quality standards of the company, the project was unable to meet the budgets. So, rather than compromising with the quality, they decided to raise the budget of the project slightly. After that, the task of the project managers was to convince the vendors and the sellers to offer them the components at further discounted prices so that project doesn't go out of control.
