Question

Please provide explination and solution. ow were you able to fiure out the answer :

Assume there are 4 processes (P1, P2, P3 and P4) running at your computer system. OS applies FCFS (First Come First Serve) scheduling algorithm to utilize CPU. Here are the lengths of execution time for each process. P1 = 30 ms, P2 = 6 ms, P3 = 2 ms, P4 = 50 ms. If the processes require CPU services from OS by the order of P4 rightarrow P1 rightarrow P2 rightarrow P3 (i.e. P4 asked service from OS first, then P1, then P2 and finally P3), when will CPU finishes executing P2 (assume time starts at time 0) ?

Explanation / Answer

P2 will finish executing after p4 and p1 has finished
Total time taken=execution time of p4+execution time of p1+execution time of p2
Total time taken=50ms+30 ms+6ms
                =86 ms
CPU will finish executing p2 at 86 ms
