Question

It has been said that the United States has lost its sense of the sacred. Nothing is set aside, made special, or considered sacred. People use to dress up to go to theatre, or fly on an airplane. Today informal dress, or even shorts, is the norm. Weddings, rather than following time honored rituals, consist of a creative ceremony written by the bride and groom. Even a high school or college graduation is often marked by catcalls. Answer the question whether you believe anything is sacred or holy in our contemporary society. Is that a good or bad thing? Explainl

Explanation / Answer

In my views, the relationship between a true teacher and a true student is the most sacred thing. Imparting knowledge is the essence of life. Knowledge must flow to avoid it from getting rusted. Teachers are the transporters of such knowledge. The one to one interactions of a teacher with his student acknowledges the potential of each other and helps in enlightening them. Unfortunately in this contemporary world, the sacred bond between a student and his teacher has been broken. Students either don’t take learning seriously or they do not have the time to address their teacher and have profound interactions. This has impacted the level of knowledge flow as well.
