Change is considered by many as the new normal. Effective change management must be part of an organization’s DNA. An emerging leadership style called the transformational style has been shown to be effective in this environment, especially in leading change. This form of leadership goes beyond traditional forms of leadership which relied mainly on centralized control. It emphasizes more open communication, collaboration, and participation by employees.
Then, respond to the following:
•What are the key attributes of the transformational style of leadership? Explain why you think these attributes are required of a transformational leader.
•From either personal experience, or through observation, provide examples of transformation leadership.
•Which of the other leaders who you have seen come close to being effective transformational leaders? How could they have changed to be transformational leaders? Justify your answer with appropriate examples.

Leadership today is way different and difficult from what it was few years back, and because of the ever changing dynamic nature of business organizations the affect is visible on leadership. In order to pace up and match with the changes of an organization leaders adopt the transformational style of leadership in which the leaders need to understand the change that is required for the organization and act on it for the betterment of the organization and this is possible only when the leader works closely with subordinates and other employees. I believe that in order to be a transformational leader the individual needs to possess some key attributes, like:
1. Clear Vision of what they want to change and the objectives and goals they need to achieve in order to make the change fruitful.
2. Courage to know and take calculated risks because the findings need to be applied in the correct way or it will not be fruitful at all for the organization and the leader.
3. Self motivations needs to be present because there will be situations when the leader will be alone and still he needs to keep himself motivated regarding the decision he is making.
4. Know your people because if a strong bond is not present then achieving success is very difficult. The leader needs to know the subordinates and understand them in order to be successful.
5. Adaptability is an attribute that needs to be present because the leader needs to accept ideas and be flexible towards it so that the results that are being expected is very fast.
I believe that there are various transformational leaders and two examples that come into my mind whenever I think of transformational leadership are Former CEO and MD of Apple Steve Jobs and CEO of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg. If we look at their approach and ideas we will see that both has brought about a change in the industry which was quite unlikely but still they have made it possible.
There are many leaders who came very close to become transformational leaders but could not make it because they lacked few attributes. Steve Wozniak co founder of apple was one of them I feel could have been a great leader if he possessed innovative ideas and the courage to take the risk of doing something out of the box.
