The President of Mason University has asked your student organization to put together a proposal for a project to launch the “It’s on Us” campaign to plan educational programs to increase students’ awareness of sexual violence, obtain the necessary resources, involve students in designing, developing and publicizing the campaign, and developing procedures for assessing the success of the campaign.

(i) what the project system will include,
(ii) project objective(s),
(iii) at least 2 subsystems,

(v) at least 1 attribute of each of those two elements for a subsystem,
(vi) at least 2 relationships between elements and/or subsystems,
(vii) at least 2 constraints,

(x) if this is an open or a closed system and why.
Explanation / Answer
The project system will include following
(a) Defining sexual violence. What kind of behavior can be categorised into sexual offences.
(b) Making the students aware of their rights. It should include a session with a legal professional experienced in handling such cases.
(c) Do and Don'ts for preventing, counteracting and responding to such events. A session with a Police officer will be helpful.
(d) Legal, counselling and medical help available for victims.
(e) Plan of action to report such miadventures in the nascent stages at the university level to prevent them from escalating further.
(f) Running a campaign to educate others through graffities, posters, activities like street plays.
(g) Formation of a student body to address such activities at university level.
The Objectives will include educating the students for preventing the incidents, creating a formal assistance system for helping the victims of assault and taking legal recourse, with a broad objective to bring these activities on the campus to an end .
Two subsystems of the project will be student volunteering bodies and external enforcement agencies like police and administration.
Elements - Student bodies - Strong linkages across student groups
Police and administration - Enforcement and guiding authority
Attributes - Student bodies may provide psychological and moral support to the affected, while police and administration provide security to the victims and vulnerable groups.
Constraints - Project will include internal participants only, making the perspectives narrower in approach. Success will depend on the interest and seriousness of students, particularly the male students.
Boundary - The activity will be limited to the campus, while such incidents happen in all spheres of life.
Environment - The project will have a typical teaching learning environment where the activity is more likely to be of symbolic nature only.
It is a closed system comprising of students and teachers, with outsiders excluded, which form a considerable chunk of perpetrators and victims
