Question
From Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach (6th Edition) review question 16 asks "Suppose that N switches supporting K VLAN groups are to be connected via a trunking protocol. How many ports are needed to connect the switches?"
The answer that is provided by Chegg does not appear to adequately answer the question based on the very limited information provided in the textbook and a few student comments. The book does not explain if VLANs are concurrently trunked (meaning only one after the other) or if they are interconnected. That seems to be a key data point necessary to answer this question. If you feel the provided answer is correct, then please elaborate as to why.
Explanation / Answer
the answer is KN because in n switches are there so each switch can be connected to differnt vlan groups
since there are k vlan groups so no of ports is K * N
