Question
Over the Internet, while most of our critical tansaction data and information such as passwords and credit card information are encrypted using SSL certificates, most companies or organizations do not encrypt data and information stored in their systems or computers. Excuses range from increasing storage costs to decreasing performance because data and information has to decrypted. In your opinion, are these valid reasons for not encrypting customer or user data and information, and how would you respond if a company or organization that you deal with did not encrypt it's stored data and information and was breached? Having said that, what if it was a company that may be critical to our way of life, such as Verizon, AT&T;, or even Amazon. Would you give them a second chance and keep doing business with them?Explanation / Answer
