the reasons because of which an adolescent would be turning suicidal are as follows:
- most of the suicidal tendencies have been observed in the teens in the age group of 10 years to 18 years of age.
- the teens in this age group would be anxious as well as would be having unsettling periods while transitioning from childhood to adulthood.
- a number of reasons include a famil divorece, followed by formation of a new family. also, this may occur if the child has had an emotional neglect or has been exposed to domestic violence and conditions in the house in which they may have frequently witnessed or experienced abuse.
- according to kohlberg, it is important that as the adolescents begin their transition, they start forming their own identity, which ay either be separate from their parents or similar. this identity formation can turn out to be confident and proper if the child has witnessed a household or community that has imparted positive values and conditions to the child. whereas, for the children having negative consitions in and around their houses, will be developing a self identity that is highly negative. they might indulge into anger, aggression, depression, substance abuse, and utlimately suicide. this also happens if the child has not received correcta ount of care in their life and at the time where there was requirement of proper care.
in order to help a child who has had depression or has indulged in suicide, it is necessary to understand that the individual requires support and care along with motivation. also, it is important that they receive proper care from parents, peers. they require to be made to feel important. it is required that they should feel that they are important in the life of other people and that their presence is desired and required.
