5). There are different types of common rating errors. Three types of rating errors are described as follows:-

(i). Halo effect :- this is a phenomenon where a particular impression created in one area affects opinion in another area. For example employees good or bad performance in certain fields may affect their overall perfomaperf ratings.

(ii). Central tendency :- this occurs when rating is done averagely, everyone is rated around midpoint, avoiding extreme positions to avoid any friction.

(iii). Contrast effect :- this happens when rating is done in comparison of other person of performance rather than rating according to the standard of performance of job.

6). Selection ratio is the concept of ratio of total number of hired candidates to the total number of candidates.
