Question

The four major parts of the brain are the cerebrum, the (A), the brain stem and the cerebellum The spinal cord extends from the(B) to the second lumbar vertebra. The skull, vertebra, meninges and cerebrospinal fluid protect the CNS. The__(C) are three protective tissue coverings. The dura matter, the strongest meninx, adheres to the periosteum of the cranial bones, but it is separated from the vertebra around the spinal cord by the epidural space. The middle(D) contains a web of delicate collagen and elastic fibres. The inner most meninx, the pia matter, is transparent, adheres tightly to the surface of the brain and spinal cord, and protects against shock and displacement of the spinal cord. The (E) is created by tightly connected endothelial cells of the central nervous system capillaries and astrocyte processes that press up against the capillaries. (F) provides mechanical protection, chemical protection, and circulation of nutrients to the brain and spinal cord. The (G) consist of outer gray matter called(H), deeper cerebral white matter, and gray matter nuclei. Each cerebral hemisphere is subdivided by su nto four lobes:)temporal lobe, and occipital lobe.
